The creator of the group, Impala, Noe “Gipper” Nieto, has had a love for music his entire life. With his frequently relocating military family, Gipper grew up exposed to many different musical influences. When located in Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico he was introduced to band and started playing the trumpet. His passion for music grew along with his album library and list of instruments he could play.
Upon returning to the states he learned to play the accordion. With a group of local musicians his first band Gananzia was formed. The band played small gigs and quinceaneras throughout Texas and Northern Mexico. After some time, Gipper moved on to start a new group, Los Impalas, in which he performed lead vocals and accordion.
It was at this time that he met and signed a recording contract with record executive, Abraham Quintanilla Jr. at Q Productions. Gipper started working in the studio for AB Quintanilla III. While working in the studio not only would he engineer but he would also be hired as a session musician. He quickly learned the ropes and went on to start writing and producing his own music. Along this time a need for an accordion player in the Kumbia Kings came along and Gipper started helping out. He joined the Kumbia Kings & Kumbia AllStarz in touring throughout the U.S., Mexico, Central & South America. Through the many changes in the band, Gipper played accordion, managed the stage production, and played bass at times. Noe “Gipper” Nieto has taken his passion for music and the knowledge he has gained through his vast experiences and combined them to create IMPALA.
